has been in full-time osteopathic practice since 1998. He
graduated from RMIT University after 5 years of study, and
received the award for most outstanding graduate of his year.
He has worked for 3 years in a New Zealand
Centre for the Cranial Field of Osteopathy, and has undertaken
ongoing post graduate training in the Biodynamics of Osteopathy.
Prior to Osteopathy, David spent 2 years
studying Architecture. He found both mystery and inspiration
in architectural space and form; especially where buildings
are able to so profoundly affect a sense of wellbeing.
Dr Andrew Taylor Still (The Founder of Osteopathy,
1874) referred to the “Architect”, the intelligence
within Nature that designed and created the human form. Like
a well designed building, the human body generates a natural
sense of vitality and wellbeing when all elements are in harmony
and accordance with the original blue print. When life’s
traumas result in the body deviating from this intended design,
it ceases to provide an environment conducive to health.
The body regardless of how unbalanced, always
strives towards its point of origin, the blue print of its
conception. It is this internal drive that provides the therapeutic
force for a cranial osteopath. Osteopathy in the Cranial Field
is a method of treatment that utilises the body’s own
self healing potential to resolve past trauma. The outcome
of treatment is the return to one’s natural state of
balance, vitality and wellbeing.
Treatment is suitable for all ages, from
the new born to the aged. During a course of treatment, David
often finds it useful to involve the unique skills of other
health professionals. By combining Osteopathy and such modalities
as Massage, Classical Homeopathy, Naturopathy, Herbalism,
Acupuncture, Feldenkrais, Palates, Podiatry, Dentistry and
Behavioural Optometry patients receive the best possible care.
In practice, David has a special interest
in treating those who are preparing for a pregnancy. Experiencing
a sense of balance, stillness and peace during pregnancy,
sets the stage upon which a new born child lives it's life.
